How It Works
Conventional water treatment process
The treatment train is engineered from raw water quality analysis — each stage is sized and specified to the source water characteristics, seasonal variation, and final water quality target.
Intake & Raw Water Storage
Raw water is abstracted from the source (river, pond, borehole) through screened intakes that prevent debris and aquatic life from entering the treatment system. Balancing tanks buffer flow variation.
Coagulation & Flocculation
Coagulants (alum, ferric sulphate, or PAC) are dosed to destabilise colloidal particles. Gentle mixing in flocculation tanks aggregates fine particles into visible floc ready for settling.
Sedimentation
Floc settles in clarifiers or lamella settlers, removing turbidity, colour, and suspended solids. Settled sludge is removed and managed separately. Clear water advances to filtration.
Rapid Sand Filtration
Clarified water passes through dual-media or multi-media filter beds that capture residual suspended solids and floc carry-over. Filters are backwashed on a time or pressure-differential cycle.
Disinfection
Chlorination (gas, liquid, or sodium hypochlorite) or UV irradiation eliminates pathogens. Chlorine contact time is designed to achieve the CT value required by the water quality target.
Clear Water Storage & Distribution
Treated water is stored in clear water reservoirs sized for peak demand. Pumping stations distribute water to the supply network at the required pressure and flow.
Applications
WTP applications across sectors
Municipal Water Supply
WASA and city corporation schemes supplying potable water to residential and commercial zones from surface or groundwater sources.
Industrial Process Water
Boiler feed water, cooling tower make-up, and process wash water for textile, pharmaceutical, and food manufacturing operations.
Export Processing Zones
Centralised WTP serving multiple factories within an EPZ, reducing per-factory capital cost while meeting BEZA water quality requirements.
Residential Townships
Private water supply for gated communities and housing estates where WASA supply is unreliable or unavailable.
Healthcare Facilities
Potable water and high-purity process water for hospitals, dialysis centres, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Real Estate Developments
Integrated water supply infrastructure for commercial parks and mixed-use developments requiring self-sufficient potable water.

Why Hydro Engineering Solutions
Designed from source water analysis, not assumptions
Raw water characterisation first
Every WTP design begins with a full raw water quality analysis across seasons — turbidity, colour, iron, manganese, microbiological load, and hardness — so the plant is sized for your actual source, not a generic profile.
BSTI & WHO-aligned design
Our treatment designs target Bangladesh BSTI drinking water standards and WHO guidelines simultaneously, future-proofing your supply against tightening regulatory requirements.
SCADA-ready infrastructure
We design WTPs with SCADA and PLC monitoring integration from the outset — so you can monitor flow, turbidity, chlorine residual, and pump health remotely from day one.
Seasonal demand planning
Bangladesh's water sources vary significantly between monsoon and dry seasons. Our hydraulic designs account for peak-season demand and low-season source quality to ensure year-round supply reliability.
